Qt 4.6.1 on FreeBSD

Posted in

Qt 4.6.1 is out and I congratulate FreeBSD/Qt fans. The post author turns of his full verbose mode and here is how we get Qt 4.6.1 compiled on FreeBSD. As this is just a patch level version upgrade then there is no big difference from compiling Qt 4.6.0.

Couple of things to keep in mind:

  • Use freebsd-g++34 as QMAKESPEC
  • Use gmake

Let's do it.

$ tar xfvz qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.1.tar.gz
$ cd qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.1
$ setenv QMAKESPEC freebsd-g++34
$ ./configure -prefix /usr/local/qt.4.6.1 -opensource -nomake demos -nomake examples -no-qt3support
$ gmake
$ sudo gmake install

Note: For declarative ui installation see the instructions that come with the package.
